A group of Corinthians councillors and members have filed a precautionary request to remove vice-president Armando Mendonça over missing Nike sportswear. According to Globo.com, the motion seeks his immediate removal and questions his conduct in a roughly 40-minute recording with technology director Marcelo Munhoes.

The petition cites excerpts in which Mendonça says being elected protects his position and suggests he does not need to justify taking items, referencing four hoodies. He also mentions president Osmar Stabile taking six hoodies and his security taking four.

It also notes his online row with Corinthians supporters after the 2025 Copa do Brasil triumph. The document bears 15 signatures.

The Ministério Público de São Paulo has charged Mendonça with continued aggravated embezzlement, attempted aggravated embezzlement, qualified theft by abuse of trust, and coercion during proceedings. Prosecutors say he kept 131 Nike items, tried to obtain 19 special NFL-patch shirts and retained eight from that commemorative run.

The complaint draws on Civil Police material, though investigator Cesar Saad concluded no crime. Prosecutors disagreed and brought the case to court.

He had not replied to a request for comment at the time of publication. An internal audit led by Munhoes at the request of president Osmar Stabile found irregularities in the handling of Nike kit and placed the vice-president at the centre of some non-conformities. Mendonça denies wrongdoing, blaming past mismanagement under Augusto Melo, saying fixes have been made and the report is flawed.
