Corinthians midfielder among fastest academy scorers since 2021

With only three matches for the main team, the midfielder André Luiz, 19 years old and trained at Corinthians' Terrão, scored his first goal as a professional. The play occurred at Neo Química Arena, in front of almost 39,000 fans, during the 3-0 victory over Mirassol last Saturday, the 4th. According to a survey by the portal Meu Timão, the goal placed the young player among the four youth academy players who, this decade, scored the fastest in the main team.

André came on the field replacing José Martínez, at 16 minutes into the second half, when the score was still 1-0 for Timão. The young player was decisive in sealing the alvinegra rout in Itaquera, already in the final moments of the game, when the midfielder received a good pass from Yuri Alberto and finished firmly, counting on a deflection in the defense to beat the goalkeeper Walter.

Since 2021, only three players from Terrão scored their first goals for Corinthians earlier than André. Luis Mandaca is the only one of the trio who achieved the feat already in his debut match, in 2021. The other two, Rodrigo Varanda and Ryan, scored in the second game, in 2021 and 2023 respectively. Along with André, there is also Arthur Souza, who in 2024 scored in the fourth game he played for the professional team.

Besides André and Ryan, other athletes from the current main squad of Corinthians appear in the ranking. They are the defender João Pedro Tchoca, who scored his first goal in the fifth match; the forward Gui Negão, who took six games to do the same; and finally, the midfielder Breno Bidon, who found the net in his seventh professional appearance.
