Corinthians have missed the statutory mid-year deadline to revise the 2026 budget, due by the end of June. The updated plan is now expected to reach internal bodies in August.

According to Meu Timao, the finance department under president Osmar Stabile set this timetable, contradicting January to April balance sheets that pledged a mid-year refresh with new projections for the second half.

Scrutiny has grown after accounts showed a R$ 168 million deficit in the first four months, more than double the R$ 72 million budgeted and far from the R$ 12 million surplus forecast for the year.

The statute demands a mid-year review extending the plan by six months, keeping a rolling 12-month horizon, and fresh approval by the Deliberative Council. Oversight is quarterly by Cori, CD commissions and the Fiscal Council.

Late delivery has been the norm since 2020. The revision reached Cori in September 2020, 2021’s was approved on 20 October, 2022’s finalised in early September, and 2023’s only arrived in December. In 2024 there was a single March update, and in 2025, during Augusto Melo’s removal, the CD approved revised numbers only in early October.

CF president Haroldo Dantas said June’s deadline has passed and called delays habitual, adding that a prompt delivery would mark a positive change. Cori chief Miguel Marques said he will verify the case and push for submission, while CD head Romeu Tuma Júnior insisted timelines be met with rigour, allowing exceptions only in rare cases, which he said is not advisable.
