Corinthians outshine Santos in history, target Vila Belmiro record

On the evening of Thursday (22), Corinthians visit Santos at Vila Belmiro at 7:30 PM (Brasília time), for the fourth round of the first phase of the 2026 Campeonato Paulista. Currently, the club from Parque São Jorge occupies eighth place in the overall state championship standings with four points (one win, one draw, and one loss – four goals scored and four conceded).

In the Alvinegro derby, Corinthians seek to extend their wide advantage in the historical record against their rivals from Baixada Santista. The first match in history between the teams took place in the 1913 Campeonato Paulista, on June 22 of that year, at Palestra Itália, and ended with a 6-3 win for Santos. The biggest rout in the rivalry happened in July 1920, in that year's state championship, when the club from Parque São Jorge won by a ruthless 11-0, right at Vila Belmiro.

Since the first game between Corinthians and Santos in history, there have been 355 matches played, with 140 wins for Corinthians, 102 draws, and 113 victories for their rivals from Baixada Santista. In addition, there have been 609 goals scored by the club from Parque São Jorge and 523 by Santos. In Campeonato Paulista matches, the advantage also belongs to Corinthians.

In total, there have been 210 matches, with 86 wins for Corinthians, 60 draws, and 64 losses to the club from Baixada Santista – 391 goals for Corinthians and 320 for Santos. Considering matches at Vila Belmiro, however, Santos have more victories. In 118 games, there have been 38 wins for Corinthians, 25 draws, and 55 losses – 196 goals scored and 221 conceded.

The last two games at the venue ended in victories for Santos. In the 2024 state championship, a 1-0 win. In the second round of the 2025 Brasileirão, Santos won 3-1. Corinthians last beat their Alvinegro rivals at Vila Belmiro in July 2023. On that day, in the first round of that year's Brasileirão, Yuri Alberto and Ruan Oliveira scored the goals in the 2-0 win.

After facing Santos, Corinthians will remain focused on the Campeonato Paulista. That's because, next Sunday (25), at 8:30 PM (Brasília time), the Alvinegro will visit Velo Clube, in Rio Claro, for the fifth round of the first phase of the 2025 Paulistão.
