Corinthians plan Neo Química Arena unveiling for Jesse Lingard with historic 77 shirt | OneFootball

Corinthians are preparing a special unveiling for 33-year-old Jesse Lingard at Neo Química Arena.

According to TV Gazeta, the club plan to show his image on the stadium big screen with the message "Welcome to the favela", plus a welcome video. Lingard will wear 77, a number linked to the 1977 Paulista title that ended a near 23-year wait.

Lingard arrived in São Paulo on Sunday morning and had medical tests scheduled for Monday. He has been a free agent since leaving FC Seoul in December, having spent the past two seasons in South Korea.

A Manchester United academy graduate, he can operate centrally or out wide. For United he played 235 games, scoring 35 and assisting 21, and won four trophies, the Europa League, FA Cup, League Cup and Community Shield. He has 32 England caps and played at the 2018 World Cup.

Early in his career he had several loans before a sustained run for United between 2015 and 2020. He signed for Nottingham Forest in 2022, then joined FC Seoul in February 2024, recording 19 goals and 10 assists in 66 matches.

Corinthians have added Gabriel Paulista, Pedro Milans, Matheus Pereira, Allan, Zakaria Labyad and Kaio César. They also confirmed the return of Fabrizio Angileri and scheduled Monday medicals for Fortaleza goalkeeper João Ricardo.
