Corinthians post deficit of over R$ 200 million up to October

Corinthians has released its financial statement showing revenues and expenses up to the end of October. A deficit of R$ 204.2 million was recorded for the period, with R$ 617 million in operating revenue and R$ 649.4 million in operating expenses over the ten-month period.

With these figures, the club posted a negative accounting EBITDA of R$ 31.9 million up to October. That is, earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation, and amortization of these amounts. The total accumulated over the ten months reaches the aforementioned mark of R$ 200 million.

In the statement released for the accounts up to September, the accumulated deficit was R$ 180.1 million. The negative result remains well above what was expected by the board, which revised the budget and now forecasts a loss of R$ 83.3 million by the end of this season, which only has the Copa do Brasil left to play.

In addition to revenue from the Copa do Brasil prize money—which could be R$ 33 million if the People’s Team loses the final, or R$ 77 million if they win the title after the final whistle at Maracanã—Corinthians also expects to receive the television share from Liga Forte União (LFU).

Despite yet another recorded deficit, Corinthians continues with its debt balanced at R$ 2.7 billion. This amount also includes the financing of the Neo Química Arena, which has decreased thanks to the fundraising campaign promoted by Gaviões da Fiel and the fans.
