Corinthians were held to a 0-0 draw by Athletico-PR at Neo Química Arena in the 21st round of the Campeonato Brasileiro. An alternative XI featured five players returning to the starting line-up after lengthy absences.

According to Meu Timao, midfielder André Carrillo started for the first time in more than two and a half months. His previous start came in the 3-1 defeat at Botafogo on 17 May. Centre-back André Ramalho also began that game, then earned another start in the friendly against Cascavel on 12 July.

Right-back Pedro Milans had not started since 21 May, the 1-1 draw with Peñarol in the Copa Libertadores. Attacking midfielder Jesse Lingard returned too, having last started on 24 May when Corinthians beat Atlético-MG 1-0 in the Brasileiro.

Attacking midfielder Dieguinho had been out of the XI the longest. His previous start was on 21 April, a 1-0 win over Barra in the Copa do Brasil.

Fernando Diniz is expected to restore his strongest side on Sunday. Corinthians visit Internacional at Beira Rio at 19:30 in the first leg of the Copa do Brasil round of 16.
