Corinthians rehire Alvarez & Marsal director for finance team

Amidst the severe financial crisis and the removal of Roberto Gavioli from the financial department due to investigations by the São Paulo Public Prosecutor's Office (MP-SP) into past administrations, Corinthians has secured the return of André Lavieri, director at Alvarez & Marsal, to Parque São Jorge to assist the sector, which is seeking to restructure with a view towards the 2026 planning.

Lavieri worked at Corinthians between 2024 and 2025, during the partnership established between the club and Alvarez & Marsal, represented by Fred Luz as a consultant. His new role at the club will fill the gap left after the suspension of Gavioli's contract, shortly after he was reported by the MP-SP for failing to act regarding the spending of former president Andrés Sanchez on the club's corporate card between 2018 and 2020.

Initially, Corinthians tried to hire Lavieri as an individual, but Alvarez & Marsal did not authorize it. The solution found was to formalize a new contract with the company, appointing Lavieri as responsible for the services provided to the club. In addition to assisting in planning for the next season, he will support operational routines alongside statutory director Emerson Piovesan.

In another part of his work scope, Lavieri will also be integrated into the strategic planning and budget restructuring team created by president Osmar Stabile in October. The group also includes André Recorder, Gabriel Diniz Abrão, Carlos Roberto de Melo, and Heleno Haddad Maluf, and seeks alternatives to reduce the debt of approximately R$ 2.7 billion and reorganize Corinthians' finances.
