Corinthians have rejected a 10 million euros offer from Beşiktaş for goalkeeper Hugo Souza.

OTB Sports said in a statement that he will not leave the club now and that any potential transfer would be discussed only after the World Cup, adding he remains focused on Corinthians.

The club from Türkiye attempted to entice the 27-year-old with wages four times his current terms, but negotiations did not progress. Türkiye’s transfer window closes on Friday, 6 February, which complicates any renewed move.

Hugo joined in 2024 on loan, then was signed permanently for 800,000 dollars from Flamengo, with a deal through 31 December 2029. He has established himself among the country’s leading keepers, earning regular Brazil call-ups, and has been touted as a candidate to be one of the three for the 2026 World Cup.

Milan also submitted a bid in December 2025 that Corinthians deemed too low and swiftly rejected. He had been viewed in Italy as a possible successor to Mike Maignan, who has since agreed a new contract, cooling that interest.

Corinthians hold 60 percent of his economic rights, with Flamengo retaining 40 percent. His release clause for overseas transfers is set at 100 million euros.

Since arriving, he has made 97 appearances and was instrumental in the 2025 Paulista and Copa do Brasil triumphs, saving two penalties against Cruzeiro in the semi-final. He also saved a penalty from Raphael Veiga in the State final against Palmeiras, and led the team to the 2026 Supercopa do Brasil, a 2-0 win over Flamengo.
