After a rest day on Saturday, Corinthians resumed work on Sunday morning at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava. According to Meu Timao, preparations are geared towards Wednesday’s meeting with Fluminense at 21:30 at the Maracanã.
The session started in the gym, then after warm-up the squad worked on possession. Coaches followed with transition drills, prioritising vertical passing on ball recovery. It ended with a 10-a-side game on a reduced pitch, focusing on penetrating runs.
Training continues on Monday morning at CT Dr. Joaquim Grava. This week brings Fluminense then Internacional, with April featuring Palmeiras, Vitória and Vasco in the Campeonato Brasileiro, plus Barra in the Copa do Brasil and Platense, Independiente Santa Fe and Peñarol in the Copa Libertadores.
Corinthians already have confirmed absentees for the trip to the Maracanã. Goalkeeper Hugo Souza and midfielder André Carrillo are on international duty and will not return in time. Left-back Hugo Farias is recovering from knee arthroscopy, while forwards Memphis Depay and Gui Negão remain in the medical department.
Corinthians have nine points in the Campeonato Brasileiro and sit ninth after eight matches. They have not won in seven games this season.
