Corinthians reveal recovery timeline for left-back Hugo Farias

Throughout the morning of this Wednesday (11th), left-back Hugo Farias underwent surgery on the lateral meniscus of his right knee. The injury occurred last Thursday (5th), during Corinthians' 3-0 victory over Capivariano in Itaquera, in the sixth round of the first phase of the Paulistão. At 40 minutes into the first half, he was involved in a clash with forward Mike, which resulted in a twist in the area, and he was substituted by Matheus Bidu.

In a statement released by Corinthians late this Wednesday (11th), the club detailed the surgical procedure on the athlete, performed by Dr. Moisés Cohen and accompanied by Ricardo Galotti, head of the Alvinegro medical department, at Albert Einstein Hospital. According to the statement, the recovery period will be four to six months.

“Left-back Hugo underwent a meniscal suture to correct a bucket-handle tear of the lateral meniscus. The surgery was performed at Albert Einstein Hospital by Dr. Moisés Cohen and accompanied by Dr. Ricardo Galotti, head of the Corinthians Medical Department. The estimated return time is 4 to 6 months,” said the statement.

Despite this, coach Dorival Júnior has two options for the position: Matheus Bidu and Fabrizio Angileri, whose contract renewal was announced on the afternoon of this Wednesday. Hugo Farias joined Corinthians at the beginning of 2024, having been signed at no cost by Duilio Monteiro Alves in December 2023, after a stint with Goiás. Since then, he has played 75 matches, 62 as a starter, with six assists and has yet to score a goal for the Alvinegro, in addition to winning three titles: Paulistão 2025, Copa do Brasil 2025, and Supercopa do Brasil 2026.
