Corinthians seek advance payment to secure renewal of main sponsorship

Corinthians is in a decisive phase of talks to extend its master sponsorship contract with Esportes da Sorte. At the moment, the club is working to include an advance payment of part of the amounts stipulated in the agreement. The strategy aims to strengthen the club's cash flow in the first months of 2026. The information comes from UOL.

Negotiations resumed over the past week and, internally, the club's board expects to finalize the deal before the start of the Campeonato Paulista. Timão faces Ponte Preta this Sunday (11), at 4pm (Brasília time), at the Neo Química Arena.

The possibility of receiving an advance installment from the new contract is seen as fundamental to provide greater financial stability to the club in the first semester. In recent days, Corinthians has used resources from the Copa do Brasil prize money, the transfer from Liga Forte União (LFU) for the broadcasting rights of the Campeonato Brasileiro, and also a loan of approximately R$ 70 million obtained based on the league's own receivables to settle pending issues and eliminate the risk of new transferbans.

Now, the internal assessment is that a new advance payment, combined with the next LFU installment scheduled for March, would allow the club to get through the period until June with greater peace of mind. From the second semester onwards, the board projects an improvement in cash flow, driven by an estimated 30% reduction in the football department's costs.

Renewal could reach R$ 600 million

The renewal amounts are already aligned between the parties. The new agreement provides for payments close to R$ 150 million per season until 2029, which could bring the total contract amount to around R$ 600 million.

The payments are monthly and include an approximate amount of R$ 1.5 million earmarked for the salary of striker Memphis Depay, who has a contract with Corinthians until mid-year. This factor, in fact, was decisive for the club to anticipate the renegotiation, even though there is still about a year and a half left on the current contract with the sponsor.

Behind the scenes, the understanding is that, considering current deductions, Corinthians currently receives around R$ 85 million per year from the master sponsorship.

Competition offered advance payment, but did not convince

During the process, Corinthians also analyzed a proposal presented by Responsa Gaming Brasil Ltda., which was interested in launching the Timão.Bet brand. Despite offering higher amounts, the company was unable to move forward in the negotiations.

Also according to UOL's findings, Responsa even signaled an advance payment of about R$ 40 million to help pay the transfer ban related to the debt with Santos Laguna, from Mexico, for the signing of defender Félix Torres, a debt that has already been settled by the club.

Even so, the Corinthians board decided not to proceed with the proposal. The lack of sufficient financial guarantees and concerns raised by the compliance department weighed against the advancement of the agreement, keeping Esportes da Sorte as the favorite for the master sponsorship renewal.
