According to Meu Timao, Corinthians have settled April’s late salaries for the men’s first-team squad and the coaching staff led by Fernando Diniz.
The deposit was due last Thursday, the fifth business day of the month, and the funds reached the club on Monday.
The board had short-term cash constraints in recent days because of obligations linked to debts and agreements involving the RCE, the CNRD and the Fazenda Nacional.
The delay only affected the men’s professional players and staff. Other club employees were paid on time, and internally payments are usually made between the 5th and 10th each month.
Club president Osmar Stabile had previously said the club faces financial difficulties every month, described any arrears as brief, typically one to three days, and indicated matters would be resolved by Monday or Tuesday.
Corinthians carry gross debt of about R$ 2.7 billion. In March, the accumulated deficit reached R$ 131.1 million, a 40% rise on February’s R$ 93.7 million and nearly triple the R$ 36.4 million budgeted for the period.
Despite the financial strain, the schedule continues across the Campeonato Brasileiro, Copa do Brasil and Libertadores. On Thursday at 19:30, at Neo Química Arena, Corinthians host Barra of Santa Catarina in the second leg of the Copa do Brasil fifth phase. Diniz’s side won the first leg 1-0.
