Corinthians have paid May wages to club staff employed as legal entities, with deposits made on Monday afternoon. According to Meu Timao, the payments cover employees hired under the Pessoa Jurídica, PJ, regime.
The club had delayed salaries for last month across staff, players and the coaching team. In the previous delay, only the football department was affected.
The situation echoes April, when payments were also late. The board led by Osmar Stabile has faced financial pressure from commitments linked to the RCE (Regime Centralizado de Execuções), the CNRD (Câmara Nacional de Resolução de Disputas) and the Fazenda Nacional. The status of salaries for players and coaching staff has not been clarified.
Corinthians are currently under a transfer ban due to debts owed to Philadelphia Union in the United States, related to the signing of José Martínez. After a FIFA ruling and an unsuccessful appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport, CAS, Timão were ordered to pay 1.425 million dollars, about R$ 7.4 million, plus 15% annual interest and other charges.
The club are also working to settle a debt with Talleres of Argentina from the January 2024 acquisition of Rodrigo Garro to avoid another transfer ban. They have been granted a new deadline to pay and have moved closer to a positive resolution.
