Corinthians have named Dr. André Jorge as the new head of their medical department, marking the latest shift behind the scenes during a period of broader club restructuring. The appointment was announced on Saturday, with Dr. Jorge replacing Dr. Ana Carolina Ramos e Côrte, who was dismissed on April 19 after six years at the helm.
Dr. Jorge, an established figure in his field with 24 years of experience in orthopedics, traumatology, and regenerative medicine, is no stranger to the club. He first joined the Corinthians medical staff at the start of the year and has now been promoted to oversee the department. Doctors Eures Facci and João Marcelo will remain as part of the medical team.
This change arrives just days after Osmar Stabile was installed as interim president, moving into the post vacated by Augusto Melo following his impeachment over the VaideBet case. The medical department’s reorganization forms part of a wider review of club operations as the new administration settles in.
Corinthians' medical team plays a particularly significant role given the current climate, with injuries and player availability a consistent challenge during a packed fixture list. Dr. Jorge’s expertise in regenerative medicine has sometimes been cited as a potential asset, as clubs increasingly look toward advanced therapies for faster recoveries.
No immediate changes to the medical staff beyond the head appointment were announced, indicating that stability is a priority amid off-pitch turbulence. The club hopes that reinforcing its health and performance structures will help provide a more consistent environment for the squad, especially as Corinthians seek to regain momentum in the Campeonato Brasileiro following their Copa Sudamericana exit.
With the medical department now under new leadership, attention will turn to how Dr. Jorge implements his approach and whether the stability he promises can have an impact both on the training ground and in matchday squad selection.
