According to Meu Timao, Corinthians have expressed interest in Moroccan midfielder Zakaria Labyad. The 32-year-old has been without a club since leaving Dalian Yingbo at the end of 2025.

Talks began in 2025 but were halted by a transfer ban that prevented the club registering new players from August last year to January 2026.

A friendship with Memphis Depay, Corinthians' star and number 10, is seen as helpful. The pair were team-mates at PSV early last decade. With no fee required to sign him from another club, the move is viewed positively by the club.

Labyad has played in the Netherlands, Portugal, England and China, the latter his most recent stop. His standout campaign came with Utrecht FC in 2017/18, when he scored 18 goals and supplied nine assists in 39 matches.

The board and coaching staff agree on the need for reinforcements as a busy domestic and international calendar looms.

In attacking midfield, options are currently limited to Argentine Rodrigo Garro and Breno Bidon. Teenager Gui Amorim, 17, has yet to establish himself under Dorival Júnior.

The Brazilian transfer window runs until 3 March.
