Corinthians start removing South Stand seats at Neo Química Arena | OneFootball

Corinthians began removing seats from the South Stand at Neo Química Arena on Friday. The work is expected to be completed before their first official match in Itaquera after the World Cup, against Remo in the Campeonato Brasileiro on 23 July.

The club said in a statement that the removal had been carefully planned and authorised with the relevant public bodies, following work with the executive board and stadium management. Capacity in the sector will remain unchanged at 7,406.

Seats in the North Stand were taken out in 2014 to give organised supporters more freedom. The measure is now being extended to the South Stand.

With no matches during the break, the club also carried out a full stadium clean and replaced the Neo Química Arena pitch.

The club presented the change as another step in improving their Casa do Povo for the Fiel Torcida, and thanked staff and supporters involved in the process.
