Corinthians striker back in action after missing out on minutes in October

On the afternoon of this Sunday (9), Corinthians hosted Ceará at the Neo Química Arena, in a match valid for the 33rd round of the Brazilian Championship, and were defeated 1-0, conceding the goal still in the first half. The result left the team in just 13th place with 42 points (11 wins, nine draws, and 13 losses – 35 goals scored and 38 conceded).

The match also marked the return of forward Talles Magno to the pitch. The number 43 had not played since September 28, when Corinthians were defeated 2-1 by Flamengo in Itaquera, in the 26th round of the national tournament. Just like on that day, the player was brought on by Dorival Júnior in the final stretch of the match, replacing left-back Matheus Bidu in the 38th minute of the second half.

In just over seven minutes on the field – including stoppage time – Talles Magno had 2/2 accurate passes (100%), 1/1 accurate passes in the opponent’s half (100%), 1/1 accurate passes in his own half, and two actions with the ball. His rating on Sofascore, a sports statistics app, was 6.4.

It’s worth noting that in October, the forward did not play in any matches. The number 43 remained on the bench in the matches against Internacional (A), Santos (A), Atlético-MG (H), Vitória (A), Grêmio (H), and Red Bull Bragantino (A). The match against Massa Bruta took place last Wednesday (5).

Talles Magno is on loan from New York City, United States, only until the end of the current season and has an uncertain future at Corinthians. In the current season, he has scored six goals (third most in the squad) and provided four assists in 46 games. Five of those goals were scored in the Campeonato Paulista, between early January and the end of March. The player was considered the twelfth man in the 2025 state championship win against Palmeiras in the final.

In the Brasileirão, Talles Magno has only one goal, which was also his last for Corinthians, scored on July 16 in the 1-0 win over Ceará at Arena Castelão, in the 14th round of the national tournament. Since arriving at Parque São Jorge, during the mid-2024 transfer window, the number 43 has played 65 games (31 wins, 17 draws, and 17 losses) (28 as a starter), with nine goals and seven assists.

After the defeat to Ceará at Neo Química Arena in the Brasileirão, Corinthians will return to the field only after the FIFA break to face São Paulo, in a derby that will again take place at Neo Química Arena, on November 20, in a match valid for the 34th round of the 2025 Brazilian Championship.
