Corinthians supporters used the Atlético-MG game at Neo Química Arena to demand the expulsion of former president Andrés Sanchez. Protests filled the North stand, home to Gaviões da Fiel, for the full 90 minutes.

According to Meu Timao, banners were directed at club councillors who will vote on Monday on removing Sanchez from the membership roll, urging them to honour the club, reject personal interests, accept responsibility and end impunity. Six organised groups also called a peaceful protest outside Parque São Jorge to follow the meeting.

The former president is under investigation for alleged irregular use of club corporate cards, with personal spending of more than R$ 480,000 between 2018 and 2021. Early last month, the club’s Ethics Council unanimously backed a recommendation for his removal and sent the case to the Deliberative Council, which set the ballot.

The ballot will run in three stages, first the Ethics Commission will present its report, then the defence will be heard. Councillors will then decide between definitive expulsion, alternative sanctions such as suspension or temporary removal, or acquittal.

Sanchez is also the subject of a case by São Paulo state prosecutors, who in October 2025 charged him and former financial manager Roberto Gavioli with embezzlement and money laundering. He also faces an allegation of falsifying a tax document.

On the pitch, Fernando Diniz’s side ground out a 1-0 win, Labyad striking late after a subdued display in Itaquera.
