Thaís Regina has undergone surgery after fracturing the fibula in her left ankle and will miss the Copa das Campeãs, FIFA’s women’s Club World Cup in England. The Corinthians centre-back shared a health update on Wednesday night.
The player said in a post that she was cut from the Brabas’ squad and expressed frustration at missing the tournament. She explained she had been preparing intensely since the competition was confirmed, sacrificing holidays and family time to focus on training. The injury halted those plans four days before the trip to the UK.
Surgery was successful and she feels well, confident and focused on recovery. She intends to keep looking after herself and maintain training where possible to ensure a safe return.
The 2025 season was her first with Corinthians. She played 30 matches, starting 26, and recorded four goals and two assists, helping win the Campeonato Brasileiro and the Copa Libertadores Feminina.
Fellow defender Agustina Barroso is also out of the Copa das Campeãs with a recurrent contracture linked to scarring of the left soleus. Corinthians arrived in London on Wednesday morning, landing at Heathrow. They face Gotham FC in the semi-final on 28 January at 9:30 Brasília time at the GTech Community Stadium, with Arsenal meeting ASFAR in the other tie.
