Corinthians thrashed by rivals, face tough Paulistão Feminino final

On the morning of this Sunday (7), Corinthians faced Palmeiras at Arena Barueri in the first leg of the Women’s Paulista Championship final and ended up defeated by a score of 5-1, with the only goal scored by Pati Maldaner (own goal). With this result, the Alvinegro Paulista is in a difficult situation for the return match, needing to win by four goals to take it to penalties, or by five to become champions.

For the match, coach Lucas Piccinato could not count on goalkeeper Nicole (recovering from hand surgery). Because of this, the Brabas started the match with: Lelê; Thais Regina, Mariza, Thais Ferreira; Day Rodríguez, Duda Sampaio, Andressa Alves, Vic Albuquerque, and Tamires; Jaqueline and Jhonson.

The bench options were: Rillary, Letícia Teles, Gisela Robledo, Ivana Fuso, Juliana Passari, Letícia Monteiro, Juliete, Gi Fernandes, Carol Nogueira, Ariel Godoi, and Erika.

São Paulo Lineup

Coach Rosana Augusto fielded the following team to start the match: Kate Tapia; Poliana, Ingryd, Fe Palermo, Brena, Amanda Gutierres, Pati Maldaner, Andressinha, Tainá Maranhão, Raissa Bahia, and Rhay Coutinho.

Refereeing

The referee was Marianna Nanni Batalha, assisted by Izabele de Oliveira and Anna Beatriz Scagnolato. The fourth official was Leonardo Delfino de Abreu Lima and VAR was handled by José Claudio Rocha Filho.

First Half

The first dangerous chance was for Palmeiras. At three minutes, Raíssa broke into the box with a good individual play and shot from close range, forcing Lelê to make a save.

At six minutes, Raíssa Bahia received the ball inside the box and set up Amanda Gutierres, who mishit the ball and missed a good chance. At nine minutes, Jhonson received the ball inside the area and shot as Kate came out, but the ball went out for a goal kick.

The first goal for Palmeiras: At ten minutes, Brena received the ball inside the box, unmarked, and scored easily to open the scoring.

At 22 minutes, after a corner kick and confusion in the Corinthians defense, Raíssa Bahia shot hard and hit the crossbar. The ball then went out for another corner for Palmeiras.

The second goal for Palmeiras: At 25 minutes, Amanda Gutierres received the ball inside the box after a series of passes from Palmeiras and shot into the top left corner, giving Lelê no chance.

At 38 minutes, Tainá Maranhão shot hard from outside the box, and the ball went over Lelê’s goal. At 40, Duda Sampaio tried from outside the box, but the ball was blocked by the Palmeiras defense.

The third goal for Palmeiras: At 51 minutes, after a corner kick, the ball fell straight to Brena’s feet, who was free to calmly finish into the goal.

There was no time for anything else and Corinthians went into halftime losing 3-0.

Second Half

Right at the start of the second half, the rival team came close. In the first minute, after a cross from Palmeiras into the six-yard box, Érika cleared to prevent a fourth goal.

At four minutes, Johnson attempted a bicycle kick in the six-yard box, the ball went past Tapia, and Pati Maldaner cleared off the line to prevent what would have been Corinthians’ first goal.

At eight minutes, Gabi Zanotti received a pass in the six-yard box and finished. Kate Tapia, on the ground, made a two-stage save and still managed to secure the goal kick after the ball bounced off a Corinthians player.

The fourth goal for Palmeiras: At 12 minutes, Raíssa Bahia made a good individual play, dribbled past Thaís Ferreira, entered the box, and shot into the corner of Lelê’s goal.

At 17 minutes, Amanda Gutierres got into the box and was blocked by Erika at the moment of the shot. At 21 minutes, Juliete tried to cross into the box, and Pati Maldaner cleared, but the referee had already called offside on number 22.

At 30 minutes, Soll entered the box and shot, but Lelê made a good save.

The Corinthians goal: At 33 minutes, after a cross from Juliete, Pati Maldaner jumped to clear but ended up sending it into her own net past Tapia.

At 35, Erika made a dangerous run into the box and crossed in front of goal, but the ball went past Zanotti and Juliete and out for a goal kick. At 37 minutes, Ariel Godoi received the ball inside the box but lost track of it, and Tapia collected it.

At 42, Soll received the ball inside the box after a pass from Amanda Gutierres, and Lelê came out to prevent the shot.

The fifth goal for Palmeiras: At 45, after a free kick by Amanda Gutierres, Lelê palmed the ball into the six-yard box and Fê Palermo was there to finish and increase the lead for the rival.

At 51, Amanda Gutierres broke forward and shot from the edge of the box, but Lelê was alert to prevent an even bigger disaster for Corinthians.

There was no time for anything else and Timão finished defeated 5-1.
