Corinthians will use a special typeface for names and numbers when they host Flamengo on Sunday at 20:30 at Neo Química Arena. The fixture is part of the eighth round of the Brasileirão and the global Visible IN inclusion drive.
According to Meu Timao, the activation runs throughout March to mark World Down Syndrome Day on 21 March.
The shirts will feature names and numbers created by Anna Vives, the designer behind the first special typeface in the world in 2012.
The initiative brings together eight clubs from different regions, including Barcelona, River Plate, Porto, Club América, Dynamo Kyiv, Universidad Católica, Kaizer Chiefs and Corinthians. All will use the typeface in official matches to broaden the campaign’s reach.
Under the concept “Make the invisible visible”, the project seeks to highlight recognition and inclusion of people with disabilities. Organisers expect the campaign to reach more than 200 million people worldwide.
The programme is supported by Fundació Itinerarium, which develops social and educational inclusion projects that bring together people with and without disabilities.
On the pitch, the match also carries weight for Corinthians, who are looking to end a run of six games without a win. They sit ninth in the Brasileirão with nine points from seven matches.
