Corinthians U17 win in Paulista, exit Andalusia Tournament

The Corinthians Under-17 team experienced a different day this Saturday, the 6th. This is because the young Timão played twice in different competitions: once in the morning, when they defeated Ferroviária 1-0 in the Paulista Championship of the category, away from home, and again in the afternoon, when they drew 2-2 with Barcelona-ESP in the quarter-finals of the Andalusia Under-18 Tournament in Spain, being defeated in penalties 4-2.

Now, the Sons of Terrão return to the Brasileirão to continue competing in the Brazilian and Paulista Championships of the category. Next Saturday, September 13th, at 11 am (Brasília time), the young Timão will host Ferroviária at the Alfredo Schürig Stadium, Fazendinha, for the fourth round of the group stage of the state championship of the category.

The match played in the state championship featured an alternative team, due to part of the squad and technical staff being in Spain. Thus, assistant Milton Gomes fielded the following team: Rafael Juwer; Cauã Souza, Keirrison, Nathan William, and JP; Guarnieri, Piracicaba, Kevin Fernanda (Índio); Kawê Klayver, Sales, and Augusto Baima.

The result, achieved with a goal by forward Gustavo Baima, placed the Alvinegro in second place in Group 29 of the third phase, with six points. São Paulo, in turn, is the leader with nine points.

In the Andalusia Tournament, the Alvinegro's goals were scored by defender Iago Machado and midfielder Gui Amorim, but they were insufficient to secure the Alvinegro's qualification. Coach Raphael Laruccia fielded a team composed of Gustavo Milani; Kaio Vinícius, Iago Machado, Cauã Ribeiro, and Lucca Vaz; Pedro Thomas, Heitor, and Gui Amorim; Dante, Cristian, and João Poncidôncio.

The team leaves the competition after finishing second in Group A with six points, defeating Pogba Academy-FRA and Sevilla-ESP with scores of 6-0 and 3-2, respectively. The defeat, however, came against Racing-ARG, by 1-0.
