Corinthians Under-20 standout trains with first team squad

Corinthians returned to the CT Dr. Joaquim Grava this Thursday afternoon, 2, after the 1 x 1 draw with Internacional, at the Beira-Rio Stadium, for the 26th round of the Brazilian Championship. According to information from the Itatiaia portal, striker Luiz Fernando, one of the highlights and top scorers of the Under-20s this year with 10 goals in 39 games, was called up by coach Dorival Júnior to participate in the activity.

According to Meu Timão, the athlete had already participated in Monday's training, the day after the defeat to Flamengo, by 2 x 1, at Neo Química Arena. The Central do Timão learned that the Corinthians Under-20 squad goes on vacation starting next Monday, October 6, and returns to training only on November 3, aiming at preparation for the Copinha. The Terrão Sons had a below-expected campaign in the Brazilian and Paulista of the category.

In addition, according to the portal, the athlete, who usually plays as a right winger, was tested by Dorival Júnior in midfield. His contract with Corinthians ends in December 2027, with a termination fine of R$ 18 million for clubs in Brazil and 40 million euros (R$ 250 million at the current rate), according to Meu Timão.

Since taking over Corinthians, in addition to financial problems, Dorival has been resorting to the youth categories and has already promoted: right-back João Vitor ‘Jacaré’, midfielders Luiz Gustavo Bahia and André Luiz, midfielder Dieguinho and striker Gui Negão. In 117 games counting Under-17 and 20 of Corinthians, Luiz Fernando has 31 goals - 61 wins, 24 draws and 32 losses.

In 2024, Luiz Fernando even participated in the main team's training, which at the time was coached by Ramón Díaz and was related to the games against Vitória and Cruzeiro, for the final stretch of the last Brasileirão. However, he did not get to enter the field. This year, Luiz Fernando lost space in the Under-20 after a below-expected Copinha, but now, with William Batista, he is regaining confidence and good form.

Luiz Fernando, born in 2007, has been at Corinthians since he was 12 years old. Before Alvinegro, he played for CATS and Red Bull Brasil (current Red Bull Bragantino II). He is from Taboão da Serra, in the interior of São Paulo.
