Corinthians v Capivariano: only two meetings, see the record

Corinthians will host Capivariano on Thursday night (5th) at 8:30 PM (Brasília time) at the Neo Química Arena in a match valid for the sixth round of the first phase of the 2026 Paulista Championship. The Alvinegro currently holds the seventh position on the overall table with eight points (two wins, two draws, and one loss – six goals scored and five conceded).

Historically, the matchup between these two teams is rare, as they have only three participations in the top tier of the Paulistão. In two games, Corinthians has two victories – 100% success rate -, with five goals scored and three conceded. The first match took place in the 2015 state championship, on March 22 of that year, when the Corinthians team won 3 x 2, with goals from Emerson Sheik and Paolo Guerrero, twice, at the Carlos Colnaghi Stadium.

The second and last match between the two occurred on February 11, 2016, at the Neo Química Arena, for the third round of the first phase of that year's Paulistão, ending with a 2 x 1 victory for the Alvinegro. Corinthians' goals were scored by forward Ángel Romero, early in the match, and midfielder Guilherme. On that day, a little over 23,000 fans were in Itaquera.

At the time, coach Tite fielded the following players: Cássio; Edilson, Felipe, Vilson, and Uendel; Williams, Maycon, and Guilherme; Marlone, Ángel Romero, and Danilo. From the bench, midfielder Giovani Augusto replaced Romero, right-back Fagner substituted Guilherme, and finally, forward Lucca took Marlone's place.

If they win this Thursday, Corinthians can reach, at most, the fourth position on the overall table, surpassing Guarani, which has 11 points, but would fall behind on goal difference. In case of a draw, they move up to the sixth position. If defeated, they remain in seventh place.
