Corinthians will have supporters at Sunday’s 2026 Paulistão opener against Ponte Preta at Neo Química Arena at 16:00 after a legal reversal. According to Meu Timao, the STJD has lifted the attendance ban.

The club overturned an STJD ruling that had quashed a TJD-SP clearance and reimposed sanctions from the 2025 final against Palmeiras for the use and throwing of flares and fireworks.

The clearance applies to all fans, but organised groups remain sanctioned and cannot attend with identifying banners, instruments or clothing. The club pushed for the change throughout Friday.

In October 2025 the STJD had ordered the first 2026 Paulistão match behind closed doors, with the North Stand shut for the following fixture. TJD-SP overturned that earlier this year, reopening games to the public.

The October penalties included two fines of R$ 85,000, one for flares with a one-match North Stand closure, and one for fireworks with a one-match full closure. Tickets went on sale on Tuesday and remain available to all supporters.

Sunday will also feature a tribute to Ángel Romero, who officially departed at the end of 2025, with trophy displays, a speech and a big-screen video, echoing recent tributes to Renato Augusto and Gil. Romero’s contract ended on 31 December. He leaves after 377 games, a club record for a foreign player, with 175 wins, 99 draws and 103 defeats, plus six titles, the Paulistas of 2017, 2018 and 2025, the Brasileiros of 2015 and 2017, and the 2025 Copa do Brasil.
