Corinthians Women duo nominated for FIFA The Best World XI selection

On the afternoon of this Thursday (6th), FIFA announced the players nominated for the entity's world selection in the The Best award, featuring two Corinthians athletes: defender Mariza and goalkeeper Nicole. Along with 86 other names, they make up the list of athletes eligible to receive votes to be included in the list of the best in their positions.

Both Mariza and Nicole will compete with 21 other players in their positions, in a public vote that will be conducted on the entity's official website. Fans registered for free on FIFA.com can create their ideal teams, both in men's and women's football. After choosing one of the three available formations, fans have the chance to vote for one goalkeeper, up to four defenders, four midfielders, and three forwards.

The Corinthians duo has been crucial for the team this season. Nicole was a starter throughout Corinthians' journey in the Brazilian Championship, the Copa do Brasil, and the Libertadores. Mariza played a similar role, being an absolute starter for the team during the year, with the bonus of having defended the Brazilian National Team during the victorious Copa América campaign in July.

It is worth noting that this is not the first time Corinthians has had players nominated for FIFA's The Best. In 2024, forward Gabi Portilho represented the club in the same award, being the only Brazilian included in the world selection. Currently, the player defends Gotham, USA, an opponent of Alvinegro in the FIFA Champions Cup 2026.
