Frank Lampard's future at Coventry City has become the subject of intense speculation
Coventry City are on the verge of earning their place back in the Premier League after 25 years away.
The Sky Blues reached the play-offs in two of the last three campaigns, but narrowly missed out on a place in the top flight.
Frank Lampard oversaw a semi-final defeat to Sunderland in 2025, while Mark Robins’ side lost to Luton Town in the final at Wembley Stadium in 2023.
But the club are now just one point away from sealing a place in the top two with four games still to play.
A 0-0 draw against Sheffield Wednesday last weekend has put them in position, although a victory against the Owls would’ve gotten them over the line.
Lampard has earned a lot of plaudits for his efforts at the CBS Arena after taking over the first team squad in November 2024.

It has been reported by i News that Lampard has emerged as a leading contender to take over at Bournemouth this summer.
Andoni Iraola is set to depart the Cherries at the end of the campaign with the expiration of his contract.
Kieran McKenna has also been linked with the role, with Ipswich Town also on the cusp of automatic promotion to the Premier League.
While no immediate front-runner has been named, it’s believed that the Coventry boss is firmly in the frame to take over at the Vitality Stadium.
Rayo Vallecano manager Iñigo Pérez is also considered one of the main candidates to replace Iraola, with the team currently 13th in La Liga.
It remains to be seen whether Lampard would be willing to jump ship from the Sky Blues to take on such a role, with Bournemouth now 11th in the Premier League following last Saturday’s 2-1 win away to league leaders Arsenal.
The 47-year-old has also been linked with Crystal Palace in recent months, as well as a potential return to Chelsea.
Lampard has a contract with Coventry until June 2027, with the team 12 points clear of third place Millwall at the top of the Championship table.
Next up for the Sky Blues is a trip to face Blackburn Rovers on 17 April in an 8pm kick-off, where a draw will be enough to seal a top two spot in the table.

Bournemouth have done exceptionally well under Iraola, with last Saturday’s win over Arsenal showing just how impressive his team are when they’re at their best.
The Spaniard could be in line for a number of top jobs in the summer, and replacing him with Lampard would be a step down for the Cherries.
However, it’s very possible that the former midfielder would consider this switch as Bournemouth are a very appealing club, especially if they qualify for European football.
It would be disappointing for Coventry if Lampard did jump ship, but it might not be the biggest blow either, as his previous work in the Premier League left a lot to be desired, and there are considerable question marks on his ability to step up from the Championship.
