Coventry City are among the clubs interested in a deal for the Belgian forward
Coventry City are set to compete with Anderlecht for the signing of Adriano Bertaccini this summer.
According to HLN, the forward is attracting attention from the Sky Blues following his impressive goal-scoring form last season.
The 24-year-old contributed 16 goals and one assist from 27 appearances in the Belgian Pro League with Sint-Truiden, who finished 13th in the table.
He scored another five goals from six games in the relegation play-offs, ensuring the team survived in the top flight for another campaign.
Coventry are reportedly interested in signing Bertaccini this summer after his impressive performances last season.
However, they face competition from Anderlecht, who will know him well from competing in the same division.
It is understood that the Belgian giants are keen on the 24-year-old in a bid to reinforce their attacking options for the rest of the season.
Anderlecht fell to fourth in the Pro League table last year, so will be keen to bolster their options in a bid to get back into title contention.
But Frank Lampard is also believed to be interested in the forward, with contact reportedly made over his availability.
Yet it’s been claimed that a move abroad is not necessarily the player’s preference at this stage after a difficult stint in Austria with Austria Lustenau.
Coventry have made three signings so far this summer, as the club looks to build on their fifth place finish in the previous campaign.
The Sky Blues have brought Kaine Kesler-Hayden and Miguel Ángel Brau to the CBS Arena on a permanent basis.
Meanwhile, a loan deal has been agreed with Brighton for Carl Rushworth for the season ahead.
Coventry will begin their campaign on 9 August with a clash against Hull City in a 12.30pm kick-off.
Bertaccini managed to score 21 goals in a struggling Belgian Pro League side last season, so he clearly knows how to find the back of the net.
Any deal will of course depend on the cost of getting the player, but it could prove a shrewd addition to bolster their attacking options.
If he can make a smooth transition to English football, then he could offer something different to Ellis Simms or Haji Wright.
