Craig Bellamy has urged Ryan Reynolds to keep Welsh talent flowing into the national set-up as Wales face Bosnia & Herzegovina in a World Cup play-off semi-final on Thursday night, with Italy or Northern Ireland to follow for a place in Group B this summer.

"I'd like to see them have more Welsh players," he said on the High Performance podcast.

"I believe that's down to time. I'd like to see him with a younger team as well." "But what they've done with Reynolds... he's not just an actor, he's Brad Pitt level and I would watch any film he's in."

Three Wrexham players were named in a 25-man Wales squad to travel to Kazakhstan in September 2025. Danny Ward, Kieffer Moore and Nathan Broadhead earned the club's first international call-ups for 15 years, though Ward and Broadhead later withdrew injured. Moore started up front and scored the winner, and while Ward and Broadhead have been called up again for the play-offs, Moore misses out with a hamstring injury.

"I believe in the long run, hopefully Welsh football will really be able to benefit from them as well. Surely their academy is going to improve. That's going to allow better players to come through, and that's only going to benefit our country."

Reynolds previously urged Wales to go for "blood" at the 2022 World Cup, saying, "Drink the blood of your enemies, boys." Co-owner Rob McElhenney urged Wales to beat England and Iran at the time but to drop points against the United States.
