Hernán Crespo says Alisson is very close to leaving São Paulo for rivals Corinthians. According to Globo.com, the coach has ruled out accepting players from Corinthians as part of any arrangement.
The 32-year-old midfielder sat out Sunday’s Majestoso and the previous game as talks progressed. Corinthians and São Paulo drew 1-1 at Neo Química Arena in the third round of the Campeonato Paulista.
Crespo said the club will help anyone who is not content with their situation, mentioning Jandrei as an example. He added that if Alisson joins Corinthians, that would be the player’s choice.
The clubs are still discussing the structure of a deal, either a loan or a permanent transfer. After Crespo’s stance, a player swap is viewed as highly unlikely.
Corinthians coach Dorival Júnior rejected claims he had offered players such as Carrillo and Martínez for a trade. A fan of Alisson, he wants him in his squad as soon as possible but says he has not put any professional up for exchange, stressing he needs reinforcements rather than to lose players. Dorival added that Martínez must work his way back to confidence within the group.
