Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante spoke to Sky Sport ahead of the Giallorossi’s match against Atalanta.

As 2025 draws to a close, Serie A teams are already preparing for the start of 2026, which for Roma will kick off with an away match against Atalanta in Bergamo.

It will be Gian Piero Gasperini’s game, but also Bryan Cristante’s, who exploded with the Nerazzurri under Gasperini: “Only good memories,” the midfielder told Sky Sport. “I was coming off two less-than-positive experiences, but at Bergamo was a boom, we achieved excellent results. Coach Gasperini had the intuition to let me play as a forward. He gives his all to get everyone to perform.”

Regarding Gasperini, he added: “I found the same coach, always fired up, with great knowledge of the game. Obviously, he continued to do very well in Bergamo, and he brought the same energy here to Rome.”

And on today’s Atalanta: “The team is the same. Obviously, when you change coaches after so many years, you need to get into gear. I think they’re growing, they’re getting back to playing at the level Atalanta should be at. We’ll need a great performance.”

The midfielder then spoke about the year it’s been for Roma: “Head-to-head matches? We lacked detail a bit. We played great games, controlling the game for long stretches. We lacked a goal, but we’re working on it. Roma’s 2025? It means we’re on the right track. It doesn’t matter much because they’re two different leagues, but it gives us confidence. We need to continue like this in the next half of the season.”

He then spoke about the future: “Me as a coach? I’ll play for a while longer (laughs). I’m not thinking about it now. Then we’ll see what happens.”

And speaking of coaches: “We were pleased to see De Rossi go to the Curva. He means a lot to Roma. It was a great advert for football.”
