Roma midfielder Bryan Cristante released a long interview to Il Tempo in which he discussed Gasperini’s impact and his own future at the club.

“The loss against Milan? When you play against strong teams, it’s difficult to dominate the entire match; there are different phases. We played a great match, but as always in big matches, it’s the details that make the difference. We should have scored more goals.”

“The start to the season has been excellent. We’re right there, one point behind the top spot; we’ve started in the best possible way. With the change of coach, we’ve changed our way of playing, and we also have to consider the inclusion of new players. But we’ve adapted fairly quickly to the coach’s requests and we’re improving.”

“Gasperini? He’s a coach who’s always had clear ideas, which helps us players learn. He’s had the opportunity to coach many players, gaining immense experience. He manages the group perfectly and hits the right notes for individual requests: he knows how to get each of us to perform at our best. I found the usual Gasperini, fired up and with his strong game plan. Now it’s up to us to continue following him.”

“Gasperini is clear and direct. He has precise concepts and well-defined ideas, and he gets straight to the point. He makes you understand exactly what he wants from you and how to interpret his ideas. He comes across very clearly and makes everyone’s job easier: everyone knows what they have to do on the pitch, and everything becomes easier.”

“Wearing the captain’s armband is always an honor, especially in Rome. In reality, little has changed for me. In recent years, due to absences and injuries, we’ve rotated between three or four players who represent the core of the team. We’ve been here for many years, and we know the club and the local area well. This obviously helps us, and especially the new arrivals. More than me being the captain, we’re a group of leaders who wear the captain’s armband together.”

“As I’ve always said and will always say, I’m fortunate to be able to focus only on the pitch. From the match to the training center, I listen to the coach or sporting director’s opinions. Off the field, I watch and listen as little as possible and try to stay focused on my daily work. For me, only the match matters, and this has helped me a lot over the years to maintain balance, which I believe is a fundamental aspect of a footballer’s career.”

“Ranieri? He’s given us so much peace of mind. He’s helped us rediscover our true worth, restored our self-awareness, and we’ve returned to the levels we expected. He’s done a great job and continues to do so today. He often comes to Trigoria, he makes himself known. He always knows how to say the right word at the right time.”

“De Rossi’s dismissal? It’s a difficult experience for us, and I think it was evident from the outside. We wanted to continue that journey, both for Daniele, who I consider a great coach and think can have a great career, and for all of us. I’ve always thanked him for the kind words he had for me.”

“My future? I want to stay longer. There are many things to do, so my desire is to extend my contract. For now, I’m focused on the pitch. There have been some discussions with the club, but my agent will take care of those matters. I definitely want to continue with Roma, then we’ll see what happens.”

“My will has always been to continue here and I still hope so,” he added.

“This season the goal is to consistently fight for victory. We’re growing and have a strong coach who has consistently led his team into the top four in recent years. It’s clear that only one team wins, and it’s the details that make the difference. But we must always fight for the top spots, and I think we’ll have the opportunity, thanks also to the Friedkin family’s investment and the ambitions of the coach and us players.”
