Barring a surprise or a major late offer, Cristian Casseres is unlikely to leave Toulouse this winter, according to L'Équipe.
Although nothing is ever definitive in a transfer window, his situation now appears unlikely to change. The midfielder sought a move to step up a level, and Sevilla had an offer worth eight million euros rejected. Toulouse do not plan to sell mid-season at that price, with sporting momentum prioritised.
That firm stance has persuaded the 25-year-old Venezuela international, capped 44 times, and his camp to stop seeking an exit before two February, the deadline. A recent approach from Genoa, below the club’s valuation, was quickly dismissed by president Olivier Cloarec and sporting director Viktor Bezhani.
In agreement with his entourage, Casseres now plans to stay until the end of the season. That does not rule out a late twist if a double-digit offer arrives.
He returned to the starting XI in Sunday’s 2-0 win at Brest after a disrupted start to the year linked to his wish to leave. His contract with Toulouse runs until 2027.
