Cristian Rivero was sent off at the Coliseum, the Valencia goalkeeper shown a straight red while on the bench in minute 90. Referee Díaz de Mera Escuderos punished him for throwing a ball onto the pitch to delay the restart while play was stopped.
According to AS, Rivero will be suspended for Espanyol’s visit to Mestalla on Saturday. With Agirrezabala injured, Carlos Corberán will have only one first-team goalkeeper available, Stole Dimitrievski.
Vicent Abril will be called up as back-up, provided Dimitrievski suffers no setback during the week.
José Luis Gayà, who scored the winner against Getafe, will also miss the Espanyol game. He was booked for a reckless challenge in a contest for the ball, taking him to five cautions and triggering a ban.
Copete, the other Valencia player who was one booking from a ban, was not shown a yellow.
