Cristiano Ronaldo has acquired a 25% stake in UD Almería, who are third in Spain's Segunda División.
The 41-year-old completed the deal via CR7 Sports Investments, a new subsidiary of CR7 SA, the vehicle that oversees his business interests, the player said in a statement on Thursday.
Ronaldo said he has long wanted to contribute to football beyond the pitch, views Almería as a club with strong foundations and clear growth potential, and wishes to work with its leadership through the next phase of development.
UD Almería president Mohamed Al Khereiji welcomed the investment, praising Ronaldo's on-field excellence, knowledge of Spanish competitions and understanding of the project across first team and academy.
Ronaldo is an established entrepreneur and investor. As part of his extension with Al Nassr, he acquired a 15% stake in the Saudi club.
CR7 Sports Investments will serve as a platform to assess and execute strategic opportunities in professional sport.
