Cristiano Ronaldo has offered a positive fitness update, sharing gym work as he steps up rehabilitation from a thigh injury that has kept the 41-year-old out for Al-Nassr.
He limped off in late February against Al-Fayha with a substantial tear in his right hamstring. According to Goal.com, he has followed a tailored programme and posted images of targeted leg work and upper-body stretching.
The updates will reassure supporters, with the setback threatening to interrupt another prolific season. Ronaldo has 22 goals and four assists in 26 appearances in all competitions.
Portugal boss Roberto Martinez framed Ronaldo’s omission from the friendlies against Mexico and the USA as a temporary precaution. He called it a minor muscle issue, said there was no World Cup risk, and added they think he could be back within a week or two. He also said Bernardo Silva’s absence is a technical choice informed by medical input from his club.
Martinez described this window as a chance to experiment, using the space created by senior absences to look at deserving new players.
Portugal’s 2026 World Cup path runs through Group K, starting on 17 June in Houston against the winner of an inter-confederation play-off between DR Congo and New Caledonia/Jamaica. They stay in Texas to face Uzbekistan six days later, then meet Colombia in Miami on 27 June.
