Cristiano Ronaldo has reportedly become football’s first billionaire after a new Al-Nassr contract.
Bloomberg reports his net worth has reached USD 1.4 billion, built on salaries, endorsements and business income.
Ronaldo earns the highest average annual pay for a sportsperson at Al-Nassr, with Saudi Arabia’s tax-free regime boosting take-home pay compared with spells at Real Madrid and Manchester United. He moved to the Saudi Pro League in 2023, while Lionel Messi headed to Major League Soccer.
The report says he earned over USD 550 million in salaries in Europe up to 2023. A decade-long Nike deal brings USD 18 million a year, with Armani and Castrol partnerships adding more than USD 175 million.
Since joining Al-Nassr, he has earned around USD 200 million a year in tax-free salary and bonuses, plus a USD 30 million signing bonus.
A contract extension reportedly signed in June 2025 is said to be worth over USD 400 million and to include a 15% stake in Al-Nassr. That agreement is credited with pushing him past the billion mark.
With more than 660 million Instagram followers, a sizeable property portfolio and multiple investments, Ronaldo is set to remain among the world’s top-earning sportspersons long after retirement.
