Cristiano Ronaldo has renewed his pursuit of the 1,000-goal landmark after receiving the Best Middle East Player award at the 2025 Globe Soccer Awards.
Al-Nassr maintained a 100% start with a 10th straight league win, a 3-0 against Al-Akhdoud, as Ronaldo hit a brace.
Those were goals 955 and 956 of his career, keeping 1,000 in sight. Roberto Martinez said: "He's at a very good point in his career. I don't think it's a goal." He told Marca.
"It's a huge pleasure to be at a gala with so many sports personalities," Ronaldo said. "I'm confident I'll get there if there are no injuries."
Portugal are expected to be led by Ronaldo at the 2026 World Cup next summer. A 2-0 defeat to Republic of Ireland left a nervy finish to qualifying, when he was sent off for an elbow on Dara O'Shea.
He said: "Attitude. There are three pillars that we constantly analyse: talent, experience, and the attitude he can bring to the Selecao. 25 goals in 30 games playing as a striker shows that what he does on the field contributes a lot to the national team."
Portugal open against Caledonia, Jamaica or DR Congo, then meet competition debutants Uzbekistan, before finishing against Colombia.
