Al-Nassr are close to completing a deal for Chelsea attacker Joao Felix, but the Saudi Pro League club may not be done doing business in London.

According to journalist Jose Felix Diaz, Al-Nassr captain Cristiano Ronaldo wants his club to sign Chelsea left-back Marc Cucurella.

After a rough start to his Chelsea career, Cucurella emerged as a crucial player in the final games of the 2023/24 campaign.

Former manager Mauricio Pochettino shifted him into midfield, and the tactical move helped the Blues control counter-attacks better and end the season with a flourish.

New boss Enzo Maresca took his game to the next level last term.

He played a massive role as Chelsea clinched Champions League football, won the Europa Conference League, and the Club World Cup.

Cucrella played 54 matches for Chelsea, bagging seven goals and four assists. He was also solid defensively.

The 27-year-old is crucial for the Blues, and Chelsea may be reluctant to let him leave. Not many players understand and interpret the inverted role as well as Cucurella.

His recovery ability helps Chelsea’s press, and it is hard to envisage the Blues sanctioning a move for the Spanish international.

However, it is also worth noting that Cucurella is entering the final two years of his contract with Chelsea.

He turns 28 next year, and the two-time Champions League winners have not started talks over a new contract.

Chelsea do not like ageing players or those whose contracts are running down.

They have struggled to shift players such as Ben Chilwell and Raheem Sterling. They will not want a repeat of the same mistake.

The Club World Cup champions might consider a sale next summer, especially if potential signing Jorrel Hato shows he can take the mantle.
