Cristiano Ronaldo has gone on strike at Al-Nassr over what he views as uneven Public Investment Fund backing, refusing to face Al-Riyadh and possibly sitting out Friday’s Al-Ittihad game. According to Goal.com, he could ask to leave at season’s end if nothing changes.

The 41-year-old is also said to have tried to block Karim Benzema’s switch to Al-Hilal from Al-Ittihad, which still went through. Al-Nassr nevertheless added eight players last summer, including Joao Felix, Kingsley Coman and Inigo Martinez.

Seven next steps are outlined. A third spell at Manchester United is floated, with Michael Carrick now interim and Benjamin Sesko’s development a factor. A Real Madrid reunion is framed as emotionally compelling during a turbulent spell under Alvaro Arbeloa after Xabi Alonso’s short reign, with Kylian Mbappe long an admirer.

Newcastle, backed by PIF, are presented as a route back to the Premier League, albeit with risk given their current position. MLS has also been mooted, with a potential link-up with Lionel Messi in Miami seen as a commercial and competitive lure.

A romantic return to Sporting CP appeals to many, while joining Al-Hilal would place Ronaldo alongside Benzema in a star-heavy squad that has outspent domestic rivals. Remaining in Saudi Arabia on different terms could still suit his earning power.

Retirement is listed but Ronaldo has publicly pushed it away, still eyeing the 1,000-goal landmark and Portugal’s 2026 World Cup tilt. Coach Roberto Martinez has recently portrayed him as a valuable finisher and dressing-room presence.
