The London sides join a growing list of admirers for in-demand Owls boss
Danny Röhl’s future at Sheffield Wednesday remains uncertain as fresh reports from Germany suggest Premier League interest in the 36-year-old has intensified.
The Owls boss is now being monitored by Crystal Palace and Fulham, with both clubs reportedly viewing him as a potential replacement should their current managers depart this summer.
Röhl’s contract at Hillsborough is understood to contain a release clause in the low single-digit millions, making him an attractive proposition for clubs seeking an ambitious, tactically astute head coach.
Having guided Wednesday from a precarious relegation battle to a 12th-place Championship finish in 18 months, Röhl has earned admirers across the footballing landscape - but the latest links represent a significant escalation.
According to Sky Germany, Crystal Palace and Fulham have emerged as new contenders in the race for Röhl, should managerial changes occur at either club.
With Oliver Glasner and Marco Silva both attracting external attention and facing uncertain futures, Röhl has been identified as a candidate to step into the top flight.
This follows previous interest from Leicester City and Southampton - both recently relegated from the Premier League - as well as Bundesliga side RB Leipzig, where Röhl had earlier connections through his Red Bull coaching background.
While these earlier links have cooled in recent weeks, the addition of new Premier League suitors may further complicate Wednesday’s efforts to keep hold of their manager.
Röhl’s rapid impact in South Yorkshire has made him a standout name among Europe’s emerging coaches.
Appointed in October 2023, he turned around Xisco Munoz’s disastrous start to the campaign, implementing a high-energy style and overseeing notable victories that pulled the Owls out of the bottom three on the final day of the 23/24 campaign.
Speculation around Röhl’s next move has only intensified following the conclusion of Wednesday’s season, which ended in a 1-1 draw against Watford.
While Röhl himself has confirmed internal discussions with Owls chairman Dejphon Chansiri, he has yet to confirm whether he plans to remain at Hillsborough for the 2025/26 campaign.
Supporters have grown increasingly anxious amid the lack of clarity, especially in light of fresh Premier League interest.
The club faces a pivotal and precarious summer as it looks to build on the momentum of Röhl’s transformative first full year - but that progress could be derailed if Wednesday are forced into a reluctant managerial search.
