Crystal Palace could reportedly be set to bank more money from the sale of Michael Olise to Bayern Munich as he’s now being strongly linked with a transfer to Liverpool.
The France international has become established as one of the best players in the world during his time in Germany, and it makes sense that we’re now seeing speculation about him coming back to the Premier League.
Olise looks ideal to help Liverpool replace Mohamed Salah, who has confirmed he’ll be leaving Anfield at the end of this season.
Still, Bild report that Liverpool might have to pay as much as £173m to persuade Bayern to let Olise go, with the 24-year-old potentially becoming the most expensive Premier League signing of all time.
This would eclipse the record-breaking fees the Reds themselves paid for Alexander Isak and Florian Wirtz last summer, and it could also mean extra cash for Olise’s former club Crystal Palace.
Olise shone during his time at Palace and it looks like the south London club expected there might be even more money to make from him further down the line.
According to reports, the Eagles insisted that Bayern give them 15% of any future sale, which could mean they receive as much as £26m if Olise really does end up joining LFC for £173m.
That might not be earth-shattering money that can help them land the best players in the world, but it’s also a pretty significant amount considering they already sold Olise to Bayern for £50m two years ago.
This could go down as smart business by Palace, even if it’s obviously a blow to have lost a world class talent like this.
Liverpool might not be able to afford such a high fee, however, and are also being linked with other top attacking players such as Yan Diomande, Morgan Rogers, and Anthony Gordon.
