Crystal Palace are expected to be very active on the deadline day and bringing a new defender to Selhurst Park is a priority for Oliver Glasner.
The Eagles have shown signs of resurgence under Oliver Glasner, and they picked up a crucial 2-0 win against Manchester United on Sunday at Old Trafford to move ahead of them in the Premier League table.
They now turn their attention towards bolstering the squad and should be aiming to sign a few players if their budget permits.
According to Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail, the Eagles are in talks to sign AC Milan centre-back Strahinja Pavlovic before Monday’s deadline.
The Eagles could sign Tiago Djalo on loan from Juventus if they fail to agree a deal with Milan for Pavlovic. They are also looking to add a new left-back and are close to signing Ben Chilwell from Chelsea, per The Telegraph.
Alan Nixon of The Sun claimed that Glasner wants to sign Pavlovic in a £25million deadline deal. The Palace boss is a huge fan of the powerful defender who has made 43 appearances for the Serbian national team.
Palace lost Trevoh Chalobah last month, who was recalled by Chelsea from his loan spell. Chadi Riad is likely to be out for the rest of the season after rupturing his ACL.
The Eagles need more bodies at the back, and Pavlovic can be a solid addition to the side. The 23-year-old centre-back joined the Italian club from RB Salzburg last summer, and the Rossonerri could ask for a fee of around £35m.
Chilwell is likely to move to Selhurst Park after a loan deal with Chelsea has been agreed. The 28-year-old defender will have a medical at Palace on transfer deadline day.
He is a left-back by trade, but he can also operate as a left-sided centre-back if needed.
