Crystal Palace wants to sign a distinguished player from Atletico Madrid.
Crystal Palace finds itself in a strong financial position after concluding the summer transfer window with a net profit of €67 million. This healthy balance provides the club with significant flexibility to pursue a major signing without concerns over Financial Fair Play regulations—and reports suggest such a move is already in the works.
According to Mundo Deportivo, the Premier League side has set its sights on Atlético Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher—a player also previously linked with Tottenham. However, the two clubs are said to differ on the structure of a potential deal.
While Crystal Palace is exploring the possibility of a loan move for the former Chelsea player, Atlético Madrid is only willing to negotiate a permanent transfer. Furthermore, the La Liga outfit is holding out for a fee exceeding the €42 million they originally paid Chelsea, making any acquisition a considerable financial commitment.
Adding further urgency to the situation is Gallagher’s own desire for consistent playing time, as his prospects of representing England at the upcoming World Cup could hinge on regular minutes at club level.
