According to Glorioso 1904, Daniel Banjaqui is poised to extend his Benfica deal until 2031, with a release clause of €80 million. The agreement is expected to be formalised in the coming days, after he returns to Seixal from Portugal Under-21 duty.
Having recently turned 18, the right-back is now eligible to sign a longer-term contract.
He made his first minutes for Luís Freire's side during the latest two-match international window. On debut against Azerbaijan, he helped Portugal win 4-0, joining one of the youngest groups to reach this level in the 21st century.
He then scored his first goal for the Under-21s in a 3-0 victory over Scotland. The performance underlined his form and strengthened his status as one of Portugal's promising talents.
That strike made him one of the youngest scorers in the age group, moving ahead of João Félix and Francisco Conceição. Only Cristiano Ronaldo and Rúben Neves have found the net at a younger age.
This season for Benfica, Banjaqui, valued at €5 million, has played 27 matches, 14 in Liga Portugal Meu Super, seven in the UEFA Youth League, three in Liga Revelação, two in Liga Portugal Betclic and one in the Taça de Portugal. Across 1,837 minutes, the right-back has one goal and five assists.
