Daniel Farke kept Karl Darlow in goal against Fulham and removed Lucas Perri from the XI, pointing to recent form and pressure.

According to yorkshireeveningpost.co.uk, Perri had been earmarked to sit out the FA Cup tie at Derby to give Wales international Darlow a game, then return at Elland Road. Instead, after high profile mistakes against Manchester United and Newcastle United, Darlow retained the shirt.

Farke said Perri joined late in pre-season and suffered injuries that interrupted his start, and accepted he had not reached the level required in recent weeks for a promoted side. He described Darlow as reliable, noting his contribution during last season’s run in and when Perri was absent.

He also sought to shield the Brazilian, removing him from the spotlight so he can work in training to recapture his best. Farke had already questioned Perri’s decision making for Manchester United’s equaliser and for the Harvey Barnes winner at Newcastle.

Late injuries to Jaka Bijol and Anton Stach in the final session complicated selection. Sebastiaan Bornauw had pulled up at Derby and Joe Rodon had only just returned, so Farke was reluctant to start both. James Justin operated as a centre-back out of possession and at right-back on the ball, and was praised.

Stach could be back for Everton after an adductor strain. Bijol is predicted to miss three to five weeks, and Farke said any setback late in January could push Leeds into the market before the deadline. He added there is no need for panic unless something unusual happens.
