Leeds United fly to the USA today for an east coast tour, with Daniel Farke set to tackle pre-season jobs. Their first run-out comes against Wrexham in Florida this weekend.

According to Leeds Live, Harry Wilson travels, while new signing Tarik Muharemovic links up later this week. They face Wrexham this weekend, then Sunderland on June 30 and Liverpool on August 2, with World Cup players due to miss at least part of the trip due to statutory leave.

Joe Rodon has kept plans under wraps but hinted at defensive flexibility. The opener should offer an early glimpse of Farke’s thinking, with minutes managed and the four World Cup players still away.

Wilson will settle alongside a Welsh core in Rodon, Ethan Ampadu and Daniel James. Muharemovic’s involvement against Wrexham is touch and go, though integrating with team-mates takes priority.

Tour selection will be telling for returning loanees, with those included getting a chance to impress or advertise themselves. Those left behind will understand their standing.

Pre-season will not decide everything, yet Farke could refine views on futures as recruitment continues and sales follow Pascal Struijk’s exit. Renewals for Brenden Aaronson, Ilia Gruev and Lukas Nmecha are up for debate in their final year, and from January they can speak to overseas clubs. With Struijk gone, the vice-captaincy is vacant, and while Rodon called it an honour and said he has no inkling, Farke has praised Jaka Bijol’s captaincy traits and James Justin has worn the armband.
