Danilo confirmed for World Cup, matches Neymar in 2026 club games | OneFootball

Carlo Ancelotti has said Flamengo right back Danilo will make Brazil’s final 26 for the World Cup, with the official squad due on 18 May. According to Diario Do Peixe, he effectively pre-announced the call-up when asked on Monday.

He called Danilo important on and off the pitch, praised his character and versatility, and said the defender can play across the back line. Ancelotti added Danilo will be among the nine defenders selected.

Despite that backing, Danilo has featured only twice under Ancelotti, against Tunisia and Paraguay. For Flamengo this year he has one goal in five outings, across the Carioca, Brasileirão and Recopa Sudamericana against Sampaio, Botafogo, Madureira, Corinthians and Lanús.

Neymar, Santos’ No 10, has also played five times in 2026, producing three goals and two assists in the Paulista and Brasileirão versus Velo Clube, Novorizontino, Vasco, Corinthians and Internacional. He has missed recent call-ups, sparking debate online given Ancelotti’s line about taking only players at 100% for the tournament.

Neymar continues his preparation with Santos, who have 14 matches before the final list in May, two in the Copa do Brasil, eight in the Brasileirão and four in the Sudamericana.
