According to Superdeporte, Arnaut Danjuma has been Valencia’s standout from their England camp, returning as Carlos Corberán’s scoring number nine with three goals in two games.
He hit both in the 1-2 win against Derby County, then the equaliser in the 1-1 draw with Stoke City. In the summer’s sternest test he started ahead of Hugo Duro, while Umar Sadiq had a knock.
Used centrally rather than wide, the Dutchman has looked comfortable with more freedom and fewer defensive tasks. It is a chance he recognises. The window will still decide, yet he currently looks likelier to stay than leave.
His talent is clear, consistency is the issue. Whether Corberán can revive him remains to be seen, with spells at Villarreal, Tottenham, Everton, Girona and Valencia last season offering scant encouragement.
He says he feels at ease through the middle, can play wide if needed, and will go where he is asked. He accepts there is more running but also more space.
After the Stoke match he said he is, for now, a Valencia player, focused on the season, and that last year was hard but this one could be good. He is contracted until June 2028 and, in May, posted that he aims to come back stronger and work harder to help take the club, with its support, where it belongs.
